In 1999 the Metropolitan Chess Club celebrated its 40th Anniversary. Highlights of the celebration included group photos taken by club member Fritz Kos, Player of the Decade established, 'History of the Club' document produced by Garry Taylor, Club Website established (incorporating information from the 'History of the Club' document), a new Swiss tournament established (Metro Open) and Life Memberships awarded to Richard Lilly & Dougal Mclean.
